2nd BENEFIT for Josie scheduled

A second benefit concert has been scheduled to help our friend Josie (former bartender for both the Haven Lounge and the Dungeon). Josie was unfortunately diagnosed with a brain tumor which could not be removed because she could not afford Health Insurance, therefore, no doctors would operate on her. Thanks to the efforts of many, Josie was able to have the operation performed, however, there are still a ton of out-patient medical costs as she continues to recover. Please help us spread the word, and please show support for one of our own.

On September 1st, 2009 Shannon Hamm (former member of DEATH) suffered a nearly fatal heart attack from a hereditary condition he was unaware of. Shannon has continued to recover well, however, like most of us, Shannon has NO MEDICAL INSURANCE and the hospital bills, medications and ongoing treatment have been financially devastating to their family. In an effort to help several bands from the Tampa area are putting together a benefit show to help raise money for Shannon. Metal Hails to all involved, please contribute if you can!

TAMPA METAL AWARDS

It would seem that some folks in Tampa are re-awakening the beast that really helped the Florida scene explode in the late 80's and early 90's - the Tampa Bay Metal Awards. The name may have changed slightly, but the spirit is still the same, we wish them and all the bands the best of luck!

EKOTREN to release new EP

South Florida's powerhouse EKOTREN have announced the forthcoming release of a new EP entitled "The Confessions of Gladys White". Recorded, mixed and produced by Paul Turst (Diecast, Endo), the first glimpse of the new release is available on the group's myspace page "Light to Shine".

The EP will be released and available through the group's website as well as all of their forthcoming shows with the first being their CD release party to be held at The SPOT located in Downtown Fort Myers on November 28.

SOLSTICE new album details

Reunited South Florida death/thrash metal legends SOLSTICE have announced the forthcoming release of a new album entitled "To Dust" which will be released November 24 via CDBaby. The current lineup of SOLSTICE includes Dennis Munoz (original member / guitars), Christian Rudes (guitars/vox), Brian Harris (drums) and Garrett Scott (bass).

SOLSTICE are best known for being among the wave of Florida Death metal bands in the early 90's with Rob Barrett on guitar (who went on to join Malevolent Creation/ Cannibal Corpse) and played many shows around the state. In 1991 the band recorded a demo at Morrisound, and in 1992 the band recorded their debut album "The Sentencing" before splitting up.

SIX FEET UNDER Graveyard Classics 3

Tampa's death metal legends SIX FEET UNDER have announced plans to release a third installment of the band's cover series "Graveyard Classics 3" due January 19th, 2010 through METAL BLADE Records. Recorded at D.O.I. Digital Audio in Tampa and mixed by Mark Lewis at AudioHammer studios in Sanford, FL with lead vocalist Chris Barnes heading up production duties.

NICKO McBRAIN opens Coral Springs BBQ joint

IRON MAIDEN drummer, and South Florida resident NICKO McBRAIN along with fellow band-mate Rick "Moby" Baum (guitarist for McBRAIN DAMAGE Iron Maiden tribute band) have opened "ROCK N ROLL RIBS" a new BBQ joint with a twist in Coral Springs.

ROCK N ROLL RIBSwill showcase the pair's love for smokey Southern cooking with food like barbecued pork and chicken and clever takes on Maiden songs like "Run to the Hills" wings.

We certainly can't wait to eat there!
